Maharo — Custom Wood Inlays Designed Online, Crafted in Slovakia

What is a wood inlay?

A wood inlay, also called marquetry or intarsia, is a design created by cutting shaped pieces of different wood species and fitting them into a surface. Maharo is a Slovak workshop, based in Brvnište 45, 018 12 Brvnište, that creates these pieces online and crafts them by hand. Our signature combination is American walnut and hard maple — two woods with a beautiful natural contrast — and on request we work with many other species, including European oak, American cherry, ash, gabon ebony and purpleheart.

How do we craft each inlay?

In the online configurator you choose the base wood, the inlay wood, the exact dimensions and a personalised engraving: text, initials, a company logo or your own artwork. Before you place an order you see a live preview of the design and the final price. Every piece is machined with precision CNC technology with a tolerance of ±0.1 mm, then finished, sanded and inspected by hand and treated with food-safe oil and wax.

Why buy a handmade inlay from Maharo?

We make personalised cutting boards, serving trays, wall art, coasters, desk accessories and gift sets. Because wood is a natural material, every board has its own colour and grain — no two pieces are exactly the same, which is part of the charm of a handmade product. Each order is a unique, handmade piece made to last.
